La Marea Senior Living: A Vision for Aging with Dignity
Designed by Irwin Partners and engineered by ISE, La Marea Senior Living received top honors from the Council on SAGE, an organization that celebrates innovations in housing for residents aged 55 and older. The project’s thoughtful design accommodates every stage of senior life—from independent living to memory care—while maintaining a warm, inviting atmosphere that challenges the institutional feel of traditional senior housing.
Our structural team worked closely with the architect to preserve architectural intent while supporting diverse building uses under one roof. The result is a safe, resilient, and accessible space that enables residents to age in place with comfort and dignity.
Oceanside Fire Station No. 1: Award-Winning Design Built for Community Resilience
Recently honored in Firehouse Magazine’s 2024 Station Design Awards, the new Oceanside Fire Station No. 1 exemplifies how thoughtful structural engineering supports both functionality and civic pride. ISE worked closely with the design and construction teams to deliver a facility that meets the rigorous demands of first responders while blending seamlessly into the urban fabric. The structure supports critical operations with durability, seismic resilience, and efficient circulation—all tailored to a modern fire department’s evolving needs.
Martis Camp Retreat: Mountain Modern with Structural Ingenuity
Recently profiled in Tahoe Quarterly, this stunning vacation home in the Sierra Nevada foothills combines alpine charm with sleek, contemporary details. The home’s expansive glazing, cantilevered decks, and open interiors required structural solutions that blended seamlessly into the architecture without compromising views or durability in the mountain climate.
Our team used a mix of steel and engineered wood systems to meet both architectural and environmental goals, ensuring long-term performance in snow loads, high winds, and shifting soil conditions.
